The relationship between Design and materials and manufacturing processes is a recurring theme in academic and industrial circles, however, at present, reflections gain new perspectives from humanistic approaches that consider perceptual, social and environmental aspects as well as innovation new technologies. The incorporation and valorization of the symbols attributes added to the technical attributes are objects of study and discussion of professionals of diverse areas in the configuration of the material artifacts.
From the standpoint of design and sustainability, the panel proposes to discuss the impact of the categories of materials: Traditional, Innovative, Sustainable and Experimental in the development of projects, products and systems, reinforcing the importance of dialogue between researchers and professionals who discuss design and the technology of materials.
